IUEA has its main campus on a 15 acres (6.1 ha) piece of property at Kansanga, a southeastern suburb of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. Kansanga lies approximately 8 kilometres (5.0 mi), by road, south of the central business district of Kampala. The coordinates of the university campus are:0° 17' 2.40"N, 32° 36' 21.60"E (Latitude:0.2840; Longitude:32.6060.[1]
The university was founded in 2011 and began admitting students in July 2011.
International University of East Africa is one of thr newest universities in Uganda. Located in Kansanga, off the Kampala-Ggaba Road, in the southern part of the Kampala Metropolitan Area, the campus measures 15 acres (6.1 ha). Once the campus infrastructure is fully installed, the student body is expected to swell to 10,000.[2] The first Chancellor of IUEA is Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, the current Governor of the Bank of Uganda, the national Central Bank of Uganda.
